Christian Initiation

The Catholic Church warmly welcomes new members and tries to provide appropriate spiritual formation to each person's needs. Adults who wish to join the Catholic Church and had never been baptized are offered in these meetings a process of formation in the Catholic Christian faith and way of life. Christian initiation is a gradual process.

Baptized adults of other Christian denominations who seek membership in the Catholic Church are welcome as well. Families who worship with us at St. Rene often have spouses who are not Catholics, yet have joined us for years. Their becoming Catholic is not long nor difficult. Each person's situation is evaluated and his or her needs met in an appropriate way.

Sacrament of Confirmation for Adults

Are you an adult who has not celebrated the sacrament of

Confirmation? Active Catholics, age 18 or over who have celebrated the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist are invited to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation for adults will be celebrated at Incarnation Parish, 5757 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights, IL on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

Preparation meetings will be held in the rectory at St. Rene Goupil Parish beginning on Monday, April 23, 2012. There will be six Monday meetings in the evenings from 7pm to 8:30pm.
