Accelerated Math

Accelerated Math is used in grades 6-8.  It provides the teacher with assessment feedback to help personalize instruction and effectively manage student math growth while minimizing the time spent writing and correcting assignments.  The students are self-motivated to greater math achievement.  It is used once a week, usually on a Friday.  Each student is given unlimited practice assignments at their own achievement level.  The student then transfers the practice sheet answers to a bubble card, and scans it, which automatically and instantly scores the work.  A report is then printed, showing the students' score, problems missed and specific objectives that need more practice.  With this software the teacher can quickly zero in on specific problem areas and work with the student to address them.  Lastly Accelerated Math prints the next practice sheet, which has been adjusted to previous results and adds additional practice on objectives that need work and new objectives to replace those that are mastered.
Proven System Helps You Ensure Math Success for Every Student!
Accelerated Math software provides assessment feedback to help you personalize instruction and manage student math growth effectively while reducing the time spent creating and scoring assignments. This simple, yet proven system of math practice helps you motivate your students to greater math achievement.

Junior High Math - Ms. Pirman
I would like to thank the entire St. Rene Goupil family for welcoming me to the school and parish community. I look forward to working with the entire Junior High in Accelerated Math and improving their mathematical abilities.
The Sixth Graders
In Science, the 6th grade students are beginning their study of the properties of matter and energy. The students will learn about physical properties through designing their own boat that will need to be able to float once filled with pennies. The students will only be allowed to use aluminum foil in their
project. To conclude our study of properties of matter and energy, the students will adopt an element. After researching the element thoroughly, they will create a “baby book” for their
adopted element to highlight all pertinent information.
The Eighth Grade
The Class of 2011 has been very busy preparing for their Confirmation.

Service is an integral part of the preparation for the sacrament & the students have been giving of themselves for the good of others.

In addition, the students are collecting eyeglasses which will be donated to the Lion's Club for the Blind. This service project will help people in need of eyeglasses. If you have glasses you no longer use, please drop them in the collection box in the narthex of the church or send them to the school.

Another project Grade 8 sponsors is collecting Big G Box Tops for Education which benefits the entire school, so please eat General Mills products & send the Big G label to school. So far this school year around $500.00 has been raised from the box top collection.

The students enjoyed reading the novel, The Outsiders. They have written & illustrated chapter lines summarizing the novel & created character sketches.

The children have taken a look at themselves & shared their gifts and talents in class, & the Confirmation retreat was held on December 3.

The Class of 2011 will take the High School Entrance Exam in January.

Please keep them in your prayers & know that they will be praying for you each day.

Accelerated Math
The Seventh-Graders
The seventh-graders prepared for Christmas by writing Advent prayers which were shared daily. As we begin the new year, the students are aware of the importance of continuing the Christmas spirit.

The students are working diligently in all subject areas and particularly in religion as they prepare to
receive the sacrament of Confirmation on January 27. Some of their work will be on display at the Open House on January 22.  All are welcome to visit the classrooms on that day to view a sample of the excellent work completed by our wonderful students.

Junior High English -
Mrs. Halusek

The 6th, 7th and 8th graders at St. Rene Goupil School enjoyed developing a product and business plan for an English class advertising project. Working in small groups the students created a business card, company slogan, logo, ad, and commercial. The group presentations, which were shared with their classmates, proved to be a fun and creative way to improve communication skills.
