4 Year Old Preschool
Kindergarten
The Kindergarten class has had a busy first trimester. They have been working to learn the class rules and daily activities.
Many were returning to St. Rene having attended our preschool program. They were quick to renew those friendships and eagerly welcomed new friends. They are excited to begin reading and to learn and use math terms. Their future is bright because they are also eager scientists as they examine leaves, apples, and learn about the habitats of animals; fantastic engineers as they construct structures from different building materials; creative artists as they paint, draw and work with play dough; loving caregivers as they prepare meals and tend to baby dolls in the daily living center.
The fall weather brought smiles and tears to kindergarten.  They were disappointed when our annual shape walk was cancelled because of rain but were very excited when we walked along with 2nd and 3rd  grade to the Clearing Library to listen to stories for Polish Heritage Month. Many parents also enjoyed the storyteller.
But most importantly the students are learning about their BEST FRIEND, JESUS. During their free time or even while working they will start singing one of the songs they have learned about God. Songs like “Make a Joyful Noise” or “Do You Know Who’s My Best Friend”. That is what makes St.
Rene such a special place, celebrating God’s love.
A special Thank You for your support.
First Grade
The first grade class is learning about the fundamental structures of government.  These studies help our young citizens understand the concepts of responsible citizenship in the
classroom, in the community, and in the country.  The children engage in role playing activities to illustrate patriotism, respect
for the law, civility, and working with others.  In addition, our class explores the electoral process by completing weekly ‘gallop polls’ for favorite foods, animals, sports, etc.  The
results are then tallied, compared, and discussed.
Plans are underway for our young botanists to ‘adopt’ a tree outside of our classroom.  The children will observe and record seasonal changes as well as animals that depend upon our tree for shelter.  Our botanists are studying the life stages of trees as seeds, seedlings, saplings, and finally a beautiful tree.  The children gain an appreciation for God’s many spectacular gifts.
As our tree changes, so do our first graders.  They grow and change daily and make us very proud.  God bless our children and their families today and always.
Preschool 3 year olds
We've had a very busy autumn in three year-old Preschool!
They've learned about the season of fall and enjoyed investigating many of nature's treasures - sometimes even using a magnifying glass! They've tasted different apples and picked their favorite. The children have learned to put on their own jackets
and sweaters before heading outside to crunch in the leaves.
They've studied life on a farm and have even visited a farm to see the animals up close, go on a hayride, and pick out the perfect pumpkin.
As Thanksgiving approaches, the preschoolers will listen to the story of creation and make a class book to tell the story.
They will talk about all of the things they thank God for in our wonderful world. As the first trimester of Preschool ends, it is exciting to see how much the children are learning as they work and play together every day. Happy Thanksgiving!
Second Grade
Did you know that Earth is the third planet from the sun or that Pluto is now considered a Dwarf Planet? The second grade students have recently discovered these facts and many more
while learning all about the eight planets in our solar system.
The future astronauts used non-fiction texts such as books, magazines, and articles from the internet to research each planet. The children worked in groups to create a report on a particular planet — each group discovered what their planet looks like, it’s distance from the sun, the planet’s atmosphere, and a unique and interesting fact about their planet. After completing their research, the second grade children acted as
“planet experts” teaching their classmates all about the planet they researched. In addition, the second graders investigated the size of the planets by painting scale size shapes of their
planet, which will be hung in the hallway outside of our classroom — feel free to stop by to see the amazing display!

Preschool 4 year olds
The Pre-K four years old class has been enjoying the autumn season and doing many activities. They have observed the beautiful fall colors while collecting leaves, they have
learned about how apples and pumpkins grow, and recently they took a trip to the Children’s Farm. The children went on a
tour of the farm and learned many interesting facts about the animals that live there. The children also had the opportunity to pet and even hold some of the animals. The trip ended with a hayride to the pumpkin patch where each child was able to choose a pumpkin to take home. Everyone had a wonderful time!
As the season ends, we will give thanks to God for all of the amazing things that He has created. We look forward to the beauty of winter as we celebrate the birth of His son Jesus. Have a blessed holiday season!
