Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
For the past four decades, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has served as a way to bring the Gospel to light in the lives of the poor and to give Catholics in the Archdiocese of Chicago a way to participate in
putting Catholic social teaching into action. Through your generous donations, this year CCHD is funding eighteen
organizations in Cook and Lake Counties. These organizations provide programs that create jobs, provide training for adults and educational opportunities for children, and help to stabilize neighborhoods.
Inspired by Catholic social teachings, CCHD is
committed to addressing the root causes of poverty. At the core of the CCHD mission is respect for human life from
conception to natural death, acknowledging that all human beings are created in the image and likeness of God and are endowed with certain inalienable rights.
Please make a special effort during this season of thanksgiving to give generously to the CCHD collection on November 19-20, 20 II. Remember that your contribution to CCHD is not a hand-out, but a hand up, offering hope and help to low-income families and communities.Through your generosity, you share in Jesus' mission "to bring good news
to the poor ... release to the captives ... and to let the
oppressed go free ... " (Luke 4:18).
