Club 678/Youth Group

The 6-7-8 CLUB/ Youth Group is opened to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students of St. Rene School and students enrolled in the St. Rene Religious Education Program.

This group meets twice a month.  The program is setup to provide the spiritual, physical and social emotional needs of the junior high school students.

The youth club is made of several elements:
SPEAKERS- on topics such as drugs, abstinence, peer pressure and family issues.
LIFE SKILLS TRAINING-- to track skills such as clothing, first aid, and etiquette, etc.
OUTINGS--to promote a safe and fun alternative to 'hanging out'
SERVICE --emphasis on giving back to the community.

Parents also must interact with this Club either with their time or talent.

Mission Statement
St. Rene 6-7-8 Youth Club

We, the parents and guardians of St. Rene youth, recognize a need for social interaction outside the structure of the classroom for our 6th, 7th and 8th grade children.  We recognize that pre-teen and teenaged children are susceptible to negative influences outside the classroom and we can provide a venue for them to enjoy themselves and interact with their classmates.

We recognize that a Catholic-Christian foundation and sense of community must begin long before adulthood.  We further recognize that our children must have a sense of belonging in our community by way of interaction with others their age, and with the church community.

Our goal is to provide healthy, safe, fun and Christian orientated social activities and interaction for our children.

Dear Parents and Students,

Club 678 was created several years ago by Sue Gniadik, a St Rene mom who wisely recognized a need for social time for students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Some of these activities include guest speakers, learning new skills, arts and crafts, dances, game nights, theme nights and field trips.  We are a self-supporting organization and rely on donations and member fees to substantiate our activities.

Activities are consistently safe, wholesome Christian fun and consistently monitored by a board member or parent chaperone.  For the safety of all members, rules do exist and members can expect to be excluded from activities if they don't follow them.

***Parents of members are responsible for chaperoing at least one field trip and one Friday night meeting.  A calendar of upcoming events will be given to members and parents will be contacted by a board member to schedule a chaperone date.
THE MEMBERSHIP FEE FOR THE 6-7-8 CLUB IS $40 ANNUALLY.
ALL MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE A 6-7-8 CLUB HOODED SWEATSHIRT.
SWEATSHIRTS MUST BE WORN ON ALL OUTINGS.

DUES IN THE AMOUNT OF $5.00 WILL BE COLLECTED AT EACH MEETING.
THIS AMOUNT COVERS THE FOOD AND BEVERAGES SERVED AT THE MEETING.
6th, 7th & 8th Youth Group
To ALL St. Rene School and Religious Education 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Students (and Parents/Guardians) for the school year:

We are planning an exciting year for our children.  Some of the activities include guest speakers, learning skills, dances, game nights and field trips.

Our Club is a self-supported organization and relies on donations and member fees to substantiate our activities.  A $40.00 Membership Fee will be collected from each member, which will include a 6-7-8 Club sweatshirt that will be REQUIRED to be worn on all field trips.   If you have a sweatshirt from last year, and are not interested in purchasing another one, the fee will be $30.00.  A $5.00 meeting fee will be collected from each child on in-house/game nights to cover the cost of food and beverages for that evening’s activity.  Members/chaperones will also encounter field trip costs throughout the year.

You will be provided with a ‘Welcome Back’ packet, which will contain registration and medical/emergency forms, permission slips, and Club rules, which you will need to fill out and sign in order for your child to participate.   For the safety of all members, rules do exist.  Please review the ‘Rules’ with your child.  The Club will adhere to a “Three Strike” policy, which will mean if your child breaks the rules three times, they will be terminated from the Club.
Parents of members are responsible for chaperoning at least one field trip and one Friday night meeting (siblings are not allowed to attend events with you).  Not only will we appreciate your assistance, your child will enjoy your presence.  Children will also be expected to help out and volunteer at all functions where the Club is sponsoring an event, community service, and/or fundraiser.  We will meet two Friday’s a month.  A tentative schedule has been attached.

Activities will be safe, fun, educational and consistently monitored by Board members and/or parent chaperones.  Our Board members for the school year are as follows:

We welcome any suggestions and/or volunteers.  If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please feel free to contact a Board member.
